オランダ人口より多い○○ // More....than population

オランダと言えば

チューリップ畑や風車と観光での見どころとして有名ですが

珍しい光景はまだあります 📷 ✨

オランダで重宝されている交通手段の一つが自転車

街中を走る自転車はかなりの数でオランダならではの光景です

その数は

オランダ人の人口約1,738万人に対して

自転車の数が2,280台

（*どちらも2019年の統計）

国民が1.3台所有していることで世界的に見てもとても珍しいことです

ほとんどの大通りには自転車道が整備されているので

車通りが多い場所でも安心して自転車に乗れるのも街の特徴

（車の進行方向に合わせて自転車も一方向に進みます）

オランダに来たばかりの頃まず初めて教えてもらったのは

”自転車道は絶対歩かないこと”

それはそれはものすごい速さで自転車に乗るオランダ人

（慣れれば自分もいつのまにか同じスピード... 😅 )

うっかり歩道を歩いてしまえば自転車のベルがチリンチリンx50、スクーターも自転車道を通るので、まずしっかり周りを確認することが精一杯でした😨

その自転車がよく目立つアムステルダム

街のそこらじゅうに停められていて

運河の橋と自転車はアムステルダムの撮影スポットとしてよく見かけますね

アムステルダム市内の自転車の数だけでも約88万台も確認されており

これはアムステルダム全市民より多く、車の約４倍の数で年々増加しているそうです

なぜアムステルダムだけでもこれだけの自転車が多いのか？

それは街の地形が大きく関係していると考えられます

アムステルダムは中央駅（街の中心地）から扇形に広がっており

市内にある運河は160本、繋げると全長100km以上もあるそうです😧

この運河沿いの道を含め、市内数多くの道が一方通行と定めてあったり、四輪車の侵入禁止区域があったりで、車で市内中心地を回るのはとても一苦労なのです

アムステルダム市は2030年までの’自転車長期計画’としてインフラと改善に投資

16,000台の新しい駐輪場の建設がされ、うち11,000台は主要駅に設置されました

使いやすい！そして大体の駐輪場は最初の24時間無料だから嬉しい！

（でも毎時間ごとに料金取るところも増えてきてるみたい😟 )

(憲法上の)首都と言えどオランダ全土は九州ほどの大きさ、ヨーロッパの中でもかなり小さいところです。しかしこれほどの投資をする市が選んだのは市民の健康と市の健康。オランダがサステイナブルをリードする一国として名が上がっているのを再度気付かされます。

• 2010-2015年の間に、アムステルダム市民は毎年 300,000,000km 以上もサイクリングしていた

• 病気による休みが50,000日減少

• 40,000t ものCO2排出を防止

歩いて十分観光できるアムステルダムですが

自転車をレンタルしてDutchスピードに挑戦したり、市内中心地から少し離れて大きな公園とか行ってみるのもおすすめです

As much as Holland is known for its Tulips and windmills, bicycle is considered as one of typical Dutch things you can enjoy too 🚲

"According to latest estimate there are 22.8million bicycles in the Netherlands. This means that every Dutch person owns more than 1.3 bicycles which is unique in the world."

The separated bike path helps a lot for car drivers and bikers to be safe on busy streets. Which you will be learning very fist thing when you visit Holland...

"Do not walk on bike path!"

And they bike fast! I mean soooo FASSSTTTT!!!!!

You know eventually you'll be one of them longer you live here 😅

"According to the latest estimate there are about 880,000 bicycles in Amsterdam which is more than residents and 4 times more than cars! And the number of bicycles are increasing every year.

The City of Amsterdam has been investing in "Long-term Bicycle Plan" with a view towards 2030. 16,000 new bicycle parking places are being created. 11,000 of these are located in stations."

Which is very impressive to know how much the city has put investments in. I must say, it is a small city in Europe. However such an investment shows the city's choice of their own health and the health of the city. This makes me realise more Holland is known as one of lead sustainable country in the world.
