”lekker”さえ覚えれば会話できる(?)オランダ語 // entree to Dutch "lekker"

今回はオランダ生活する上で耳にする言葉を紹介します

外国に住んで目の当たりにするのが言語の違いですよね

オランダ語がどんなかも想像つかないままに来蘭しましたが、

来ちゃえば案外いけるんじゃないのって思う時が時々あったりしました

(今思えばそんな簡単な言語じゃない🤯)

周りの会話に耳を傾けて、言葉の音に聞き慣れてきところ

何かと耳に残るのがlekker(レッカー)

一度耳につくとしつこいほど強調して聞こえてくるもので...

とりあえず意味を教えてもらい、”Lekker：美味しい”と理解する

ああ..そうか、と。美味しいって意味なんだと理解したころ

こんな会話を耳にする

会話①

Aさん："Wil je koffie?"＝コーヒー欲しい?/飲む？

Bさん："Lekker!"＝うん、美味しい

（私：え、もう美味しいの？🤔）

＜コーヒー飲んでる間＞

Aさん："Lekker?"＝美味しい？　

Bさん："Ja, lekker!" ＝うん、美味しい

会話②

Cさん："Wil je naar strand?" ＝ビーチに行きたい？

Dさん："Lekker!" ＝美味しい

(私：え、また言ってる…美味しいんすか😳？）

<ビーチにて日向ぼっこ中＞

Cさん："Lekker he?" ＝ 美味しいね？

Dさん："Heel lekker!" ＝とても美味しい

（私：モウワカラナイ…😪）

なんも食べたり飲んだりしてなのに、何をレッカーレッカー言ってんだこの人たちは....🤔??と思うことが多々ありました。

実は、

Lekkerとは”美味しい”のほか

nice = 良い、ナイス、いいね

snug/cozy = 心地よい

と意味が広がるのです

つまり先程の会話①

Aさん：コーヒー飲む？

Bさん：いいね(飲みたい)！

＜コーヒー飲んでる間＞

Aさん：美味しい？

Bさん：うん、美味しい！

会話②

Aさん：ビーチ行きたい？

Bさん：いいね(行きたい)！

＜ビーチにて日向ぼっこ中＞

Aさん：気持ちいいねー(心地いいねー)

Bさん：本当に(気持ちいいねー)！

このように本来の”美味しい”という意味とは違うlekkerの使い方を割と頻繁に使います

他にも

• lekker weer = nice weather = いい天気

• lekker bezig = on a roll, working pretty hard = (良い意味で)忙しい、懸命に励む

• lekker rustig = nice and quiet = ゆったり落ち着いた

• lekker gezellig = nice and cozy = 心地よい、居心地がいい

• slaap lekker = sleep well, sleep tight = よく眠る(人に対し”よく寝てね”の意味合いで言う)

• ga lekker naar 〜 = go to 〜 = 〜へ行く

• lekker fietsen = サイクリングする、自転車に乗る

• lekker eten = tasty food, good food = ご馳走、美味しく頂く

• "Ik ga lekker uit eten"外食しに行く

基本的にlekker+動詞で使われることが多く、その行為を楽しむ意味での表現として会話の中で使われる。

例えば、休みはどこ行くの？と言う質問に対して

"Ik ga lekker shoppen" 買い物に行く

"Ik ga lekker fietsen" サイクリングしに行く

"Ik ga lekker uit eten" 外食しに行く

lekkerの使われる表現はその行為やシチュエーションがとびきりスペシャルなことではないけれど、十分に心地よく楽しめるものの意味として表現されることが多く、オランダ人の日常をシンプルに心地よく楽しむことを好む国民性が感じられる言葉のひとつだと思います

Do you remember the first word you learnt when you visit foreign country?

In my case the very first word which caught my ears was "Lekker".

I sill do remember most of conversations around me were included the word "lekker" and was used repeatedly.

Which made me wonder why on earth you all repeat same word so often😲

After learning the meaning of the word "lekker" as "tasty / yummy", I also noticed the word was used not only when drinking or eating!

I noticed that people were responding with "lekker" after being asked; if they want coffee or if they want to go beach.

Conversation①

A: "Wil je koffie?"

B: "Lekker!"

<having coffee>

A: "Lekker?"

B : "Ja, lekker"

Conversation②

A: "Wil je naar het strand?"

B: "Lekker!"

<at the beach>

A: "Lekker he?"

B "Heel lekker!"

Me listening to these conversation back then:

"It might be simple and easy language to get used to!🤓"

(And that's wrong!!!!! 👻 )

So not only meaning "tasty / yummy" but apparently also has diverse meaning.Which is "nice","great","fine" and "cozy".

• lekker weer = nice weather

• lekker bezig = on a roll, working pretty hard

• lekker rustig = nice and quiet

• lekker gezellig = nice and cozy

• slaap lekker = sleep well, sleep tight

• ga lekker naar〜 = go to 〜

• lekker fietsen = enjoy cycling

• lekker eten = tasty food, good food

• lekker broodje = yummy sandwich, delicious sandwich

By writing this list I also noticed how difficult it is to translate some in Japanse choosing the right meaning of each. In fact there's no such a similar word in Japanese as "lekker"(perhaps also not in english). By noticing the word "lekker" is being used often in different way, I realised that this reflects the way of Dutch living; Simply enjoy daily lifestyle. It doesn't need to be fancy or super amazing all the time. Just simply, having the time to enjoy each part of your day. As if the word "lekker" is a spotlight, lighting up the word it comes with, expressing its joy.
